On page 118, City Beat awarded the "BEST SUPER-TALL LOCAL FOOTBALL RECRUIT" with the description:

"LaSalle junior wide receiver Derek Kief is one of the most sought-after high school football players in the country. He has a website dedicated to his recruitment, which recently noted that he’s among only four players in Ohio to receive offers from both Ohio State and the University of Alabama (one of them spurned both powerhouses and went to Michigan — ouch!). As published in the Sunday, January 20, 2013 issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer and will eventually be published here.

The Division I All-Star team was selected by Mike Dyer based on recommendation from area coaches.  Of the 32 players and coach selected, 16 (48%) were from GCL South teams Moeller, Elder, St. Xavier and La Salle (as highlighted below).  Of the 32 players selected, only 7 juniors named, Derek Kief being one of them.

The 2012 GCL All Star Banquet was last night.  Some of the top athletes in Ohio's Southwest District were rubbing elbows, sharing congratulations and eating A LOT of food.  Have you seen some of these kids??!!?!  Alex Gall could eat a small cow and then pancake you with one hand tied behind his back.

The Associated Press named Derek Kief First Team All-District - Southwest (Division I).  Derek was also named First Team All-GCL this season.  Congrats Derek!

Derek Kief Voted Ohio National Guard Cincinnati High School Player (Week of 10/15/12)

The majority of votes were shared between two GCL South players, Junior WR Derek Kief from LaSalle and Junior RB Chris Schroer from Elder.  Derek ended up with 59% of the votes, Chris Schroer 32%.  Here's to hoping the outcome of the game this week vs. Elder has a similar outcome!  Go Lancers!

Derek Kief Selected as Second Team All Star for 2011 D1 GCL South, Only Sophomore Selected

#10 Sophomore Derek Kief ended the 2011-2012 football season with the top receiving stats at D1 LaSalle.  In addition, Derek had the second best wide receiving statistics in the GCL South directly behind Monty Madaris, the heavily recruited first-team all-state Senior from Moeller.  Derek was the only Sophomore to be selected for the GCL South All-Star Team.
