Derek Kief - LaSalle vs. Elder - 5 Receptions for 41 Yards and 1 Touchdown
LaSalle Lancers football team played Elder Panthers on October 26th, 2012 at Elder. LaSalle lost 34-28.
Derek ended the game with:
• 5 receptions for 41 yards
• an average of 8.2 yards per catch
• longest reception of 14 yards
• 1 touchdown
This was the 4th straight game swamped by the rain. LaSalle only completed a total of 14 receptions all night.
Currently GCL and cincinnati.com recorded Derek with 4 receptions. Those stats are wrong and will be corrected in the near future. Please see http://archive.statbroadcast.com/10390.html for the correct stats until the GCL and cincinnati.com stats are corrected.

Derek Kief Breaks School Record for Most Pass Receptions Which Stood for 29 Years
Keith Reganhard set the school's individual season record for most pass receptions record in 1983 with 59 receptions. Derek had 55 receptions leading up to the St. Francis Desales game last Friday night. Although, currently the GCL is reporting only 4 receptions (that should be corrected soon), Derek had 5 catches. This puts him at 60 for the season with one game remaining.
Another record in Derek's reach, the school's career record for most yards receiving:
Derek currently holds nearly 1500 yards. He has one game remaining this season...and ALL of next season to capture a couple hundred more yards. Considering he is averaging nearly 100 yards per game, I think he'll lock down this record as well.
Congratulations Derek and keep putting in work!

Derek Kief - LaSalle vs. Brother Rice - 8 Receptions for 103 Yards and 3 Touchdowns (4 straight 100+ games)
LaSalle Lancers football team played Brother Rice Warriors on October 13th, 2012 at Brother Rice in Detroit, MI. LaSalle lost 30-29.
Derek ended the game with:
• 8 receptions for 103 yards (only 5 receptions away from breaking LaSalle's season record of 59 receptions set in 1983)
• an average of 12.9 yards per catch
• longest reception of 22 yards
• 3 touchdowns
LaSalle dug themselves a big hole (20-0) and Brother Rice was shoveling on the dirt. Like a zombie, they pulled themselves out of the ground and were laser focused on finding brains. Sorry, Halloween is nearing, please substitute touchdowns for brains. The DEFENSE initiated the start of what would be a great run for the Lancers. LaSalle's Jeff Larkin took a Brother Rice ball carrier's cookies and ran it back to the Warriors 37 yard line. Now it was up to the offense to climb through the window of opportunity that Larkin opened.

Derek Kief - LaSalle vs. St. Xavier - 8 Receptions for 109 Yards (3 straight 100+ games)
LaSalle Lancers football team played St. Xavier Bombers on October 5th, 2012 at LaSalle, OH. LaSalle lost 31-14.
Derek ended the game with:
• 8 receptions for 109 yards
• an average of 13.6 yards per catch
• longest reception of 25 yards
• 0 touchdowns
St. X is having a fantastic year and they are very well coached. The Bombers did their homework and came prepared to defend. Derek was faced with double and triple coverage all night. Although, even with the overload of coverage, Derek made himself an open target. While 8 receptions and 109 yards is nothing to be ashamed of, he could have easily put up 12+ receptions again this week.

• 12 receptions (single game record for receptions at La Salle) for 161 yards
• an average of 13.4 yards per catch
• longest reception of 29 yards
• 1 touchdown
Highlight video of the game on HUDL
Moeller one of the top teams in the nation and recovering from a GCL South conference game loss vs. St. X the week prior, came out strong against the Lancers. At the end of the first quarter Moeller was leading 16-0. Although the Lancers outscored Moeller in the combined remaining quarters, the 16 point hole was just too deep to climb out of.
Shout-out to worthy opponent:
Moeller Senior RB Keith Watkins (committed to Northwestern), was nearly impossible for the Lancer defense to stop. Watkins ran the ball 22 times for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. Well done Keith and good luck next year at Northwestern.

Derek Kief's Mother Comments on Mail Received Since Dead Period Ended on 9/1
I spoke briefly with Derek's mother Kelly this evening and the topic of mail came up. She said that since the dead period ended on September 1st, 2012, Derek has received:
- "Literally hundreds and hundreds of letters, too many to count"
- "As many as 40+ letters in a single day"
- "From 40 different schools"
- "A few schools consistently send 7-10 letters per day"
While this sounds great for Derek, I feel bad for their mailman. I hope they tip well during the holidays!

Continuing the Legacy of Kief
You may recall the post from July 12th titled, Congratulations to Derek Kief and His Family (and Fascinating Discovery). In that post we revealed that Derek’s stepfather,
Adrick Ceasar (formally Adrick Harrison)
was an amazing wide receiver for Furman University from 1992-1995. In this post, we will crack open a time
capsule exposing the football legacy of Kief.
The legacy of Kief
began with Pat Kief, Derek’s grandfather. Pat played in the very same league that his grandson plays in today, the
Greater Catholic League (GCL). Branded
with #71 on his back and purple blood pumping through his veins, he was an
offensive lineman for the Elder Panthers.

Derek Kief Taking Unofficial Visit to Michigan this Friday

Congratulations to Derek Kief and His Family (and Fascinating Discovery)
Derek had to leave early from Ohio State's football camp on June 22nd to fly to Georgia to attend his mother and stepfather's second wedding reception. Derek's mother Kelly married Adrick Ceasar on March 10th in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon further digging in to their private lives (people love that), we uncovered a fascinating discovery. There isn't just one talented WR in the household.
Adrick Ceasar, formally Adrick Harrison was an amazing WR for D1 Furman University from 1992-1995. As of the end of Furman's 2011 season, Adrick still holds many impressive rankings. He is ranked #8 for career touchdown receptions, #9 for career receptions and #15 for career receiving yards.
Congratulations to Derek, Kelly and Adrick. This family has talent and we look forward to continuing to follow Derek on his journey.
